How Power & Light is prepping for frigid playoff watch parties
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Chiefs fans who can’t or don’t want to go to Arrowhead because of the extreme winter storm will be cheering on their team at local bars and watch parties.
Jason Bradley, the director of entertainment and production at Power and Light District, said they’re ready and prepared to keep people warm while watching the game on the big screen.
“We’ve got a bunch of propane heaters,” Bradley said.
But Bradley said the ‘secret sauce’ to keeping people warm are the heaters overhead.
“They are made by a company out of the UK, specifically for stadiums and sports arenas,” Bradley said. “So, those definitely help. They are gas-fired infrared heaters.”
Despite the dangerous cold, Bradley said they’ll still make it an experience for everyone.

“We try to keep that same watch party experience here, whether that be the onstage pump up and hype type of stuff,” Bradley said. “We have a lot of sound effects and voiceovers that we do that make you feel like you’re at Arrowhead if you can’t be there.”
Chiefs fan Jake Sills said he’s been coming to Power and Light District for decades.
“It’s kind of new for us this time of year because I can’t the last time it got this cold,” Sills said. “But come hell or high water, we’ll get the W.”
Sills said he likes coming to P&L because of the choices and restaurants. “You have options galore, anywhere you want to go, stop in and get a beer here, get a beer there,” Sills said.
Sills said he doesn’t think the weather will stop people from coming out.
“It’ll be packed to the nines,” Sills said.
