KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Jackson County Executive Frank White released a statement and scorecard on the Royals stadium deal highlighting there are important issues that remain unresolved.

His statement pointed out legislators are shifting positions within a matter of days, some having publicly ed his veto but have then changed their minds.

According to the statement, “The escalating political pressure on our county legislators is a matter of concern and highlights the need to clear informed decision-making.”

The statement outlines five unresolved issues:

  • Detailed Stadium Plans: The statement says it’s vital to know where the Royals plan to build.
  • Investment Commitments: What will each team commit to? The statement says the sustainability of the projects comes down to details.
  • Chief’s Commitment to Jackson County: Jackson County wants a firm commitment from the chiefs they won’t relocate headquarters or training facilities outside of Jackson County
  • Enforceable Leases: Jackson County residents must be protected in detail according to the statement
  • Community Benefits Agreement: Frank White wants details that are measurable including labor standards and community engagement initiatives.

White’s statement said he’s committed to working with all parties but the deal must move forward with “caution and clarity.” It pointed out an extension of the sales equates to more than two billion dollars over the 40-year period.

The Executive Office additionally released a “scorecard” on 10 issues that need further clarification like who pays for the stadium demolition and what exactly will the Chiefs do to improve Arrowhead Stadium if the Royals relocate.
