BALTIMORE, Md. (KCTV) - For the second straight season, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl. Kansas City went into Baltimore and beat the No. 1-seeded Ravens with a start-to-finish defensive masterpiece, downing the Ravens, 17-10 to advance to Super Bowl 58.

Time and time again, the Kansas City Chiefs defense came up with the answer to presumptive league MVP Lamar Jackson and the No. 1-seeded Ravens offense.

In the second quarter, defensive end Charles Omenihu strip-sacked Jackson, forcing a fumble that fellow defensive end George Karlaftis recovered.

In the fourth quarter, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed forced a fumble at the Chiefs’ goal-line, punching the ball out of Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers’ hands moments before Flowers could reach the end zone.

Flowers’ fumble came moments after the rookie wide receiver caught a 54-yard and was flagged for a taunting penalty after he threw the ball back at Sneed.

A drive later, backup safety Deon Bush -- who’d come on in place of injured safety Mike Edwards -- intercepted Jackson on a intended for Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely.

With the game on the line and 2:19 on the clock, quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 32-yard gain that sealed the outcome: a 17-10 Chiefs victory.

Kansas City jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with tight end Travis Kelce for a 19-yard score.

Mahomes and Kelce connected early and often in their sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game. Kelce finished the contest with 11 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown. In the second quarter, Kelce sured San Francisco 49ers wide receiver legend Jerry Rice for most playoff catches in NFL history.

Jackson and the Ravens answered the Chiefs’ opening score when Jackson found Flowers for a 30-yard score.

On Kansas City’s next drive, the Chiefs went 16 plays, 75 yards and took 9:02 off the clock, punctuating the drive with a 2-yard Isiah Pacheco touchdown run.

Mahomes finished 30-for-39, for 241 yards, 1 TD and 0 interceptions.

Super Bowl LVIII will be played on Sunday, Feb. 11, in Las Vegas. The Chiefs will play the winner of the NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
