So what does the win do for Mahomes’ playoff legacy? Here are a few of the critical numbers and notes to know:
- 14 playoff wins for Patrick Mahomes moves him into a tie for third place in quarterback playoff wins along with Peyton Manning, Steve Young, John Elway and Terry Bradshaw. Mahomes needed 17 games to reach that mark while Manning (27), Young and Elway (22) and Bradshaw (19) all needed more games to reach the feat. Only Tom Brady (16) required fewer games to reach the mark.
- Mahomes is now two wins shy of tying Joe Montana for second place at 16 playoff wins.
- With a start in Super Bowl LVIII, it’ll be Mahomes’ fourth time playing on the grandest stage of them all. That ties Peyton Manning, Jim Kelly, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw and Roger Staubach for third-most starts by a quarterback in Super Bowl history. Only Tom Brady (10) and John Elway (5) have played in more Super Bowls as a signal-caller.
- Mahomes will become the first quarterback in NFL history to start four Super Bowls prior to their 30th birthday.
- Mahomes’ er rating exceeded 100.0 for the 12th time in his playoff career on Sunday. That ties Montana for second-most in NFL history. Only Tom Brady (19) has more games with a 100.0+ er rating.
- Mahomes will enter the Super Bowl with two Super Bowl MVPs to his name already. He trails only Tom Brady (5) and Joe Montana (3) for most in NFL history.
- Through 17 games, Mahomes’ playoff statistics look like that of an MVP regular season.
