WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A fire that broke out Monday in Seward County damaged fives homes according to KSCB in Liberal

Two firefighters were also sent to the hospital with minor injuries but have since been released. Firefighters were dispatched to the fire just after noon on Monday and quickly requested help from other southwest Kansas agencies. The Kansas State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

A grass fire also burned down a home in Lakin on Monday afternoon. High winds and dry conditions made it nearly impossible for crews to get to the upper hand on the fire.

Crews from Kearny County, Stanton County and Garden City battled the fire along with farmers in the area. Crews eventually extinguished the fire.
