KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - As the American Royal Rodeo celebrates 75 years, organizers have rolled out the list of scheduled events over the next three weeks.

Beginning at 12 p.m. each day from April 24-26, youth performances get underway at the American Royal Complex. Youth Rodeo contestants, aged 19 and under, will compete for more than $100,000 in prize money through traditional rodeo events, craftsmanship, self-marketing and photography contests, and a contract act showcase.

The ProRodeo runs from May 2-4 with performances starting at 7 p.m. each evening. They will feature fan favorites like bull riding, barrel racing, and mutton bustin’. After the rodeo, fans are invited to live music and dancing in the Tailgate Beer Garden. Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased here.

A PRCA-sanctioned event, the American Royal Rodeo plans to attract some of the country’s top cowboys and cowgirls on their quest to secure a spot in the coveted National Finals Rodeo.

The Youth Rodeo will also attract educational field trips nearly 3,000 area second and third grade students, who will learn how their food is produced and explore interactive agriculture and western experiences, including mobile milking demonstrations and trick horse riding.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the American Royal, and the event will provide a storytelling booth for anyone to share their personal stories, memories and historical narratives about the American Royal’s legacy or events.
