PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (KCTV) - Joel Embiid revealed a temporary partial facial paralysis diagnosis following a win with his Philadelphia 76ers over the New York Knicks.

Former Jayhawk Joel Embiid led his Philadelphia 76ers to victory on Thursday, April 25, with a 125-114 win over the New York Knicks in Game 3. The win, however, may have been bittersweet for the All-Star center.

In a news conference following the game, Embiid revealed to reporters that he had been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy which has affected him since before the tournament. He wore sunglasses and itted that he had started to fight symptoms like blurred vision and dried eyes.

Specifically, Embiid said the left side of his face, mouth and eye were affected.

“But I’m not a quitter, so gotta keep fighting,” Embiid told the room. “But yeah, it’s unfortunate. That’s the way I look at it. But it’s not an excuse. Gotta keep pushing.”

Embiid told reporters that he first started to notice the issue before the Miami Heat game on April 17. He complained of migraines but dismissed them before he finally saw a doctor. However, there is no set timetable for his recovery.

The center also suffered a knee injury which caused him to have surgery in February before he was required to miss 2 months of the season.

“I just hope that it could stay like this,” Embiid added. “I got a beautiful face. I don’t like when my mouth is looking the other way.

Game 4 against the Knicks tipped off at 1 p.m. Eastern in Philadelphia.
