KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Thursday night was a magical night in Kansas City. The Chiefs received their championship rings for beating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

The win against the 49ers was the Chiefs’ second Super Bowl win in a row, their third in five years, and fourth overall as a franchise.

“Here we are and I’m getting my third ring. It’s surreal,” said Chiefs tight end Blake Bell, who grew up in Wichita.

“I’ve been so happy and blessed to bring two Super Bowls, happy to be a part of that, to Kansas City,” said wide receiver Justin Watson. “We want to do something that’s never been done and make it three in a row.”

“You always dream of this moment, but to be in it right now, celebrating a third world title in five years, is unbelievable,” said James Winchester, the second longest-tenured Chief.

“Kind of the final closing of the book on [last] season is tonight,” said defensive end Charles Omenihu, who ed Kansas City in free agency prior to last season. “The ring is going to look good.”

“Right now, we are focused on the next challenge,” said defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. “That’s what’s great about the group that we have. I think they see it the same way. As young as they are, a lot of guys could kind of settle on what we’ve accomplished the last two years.”

“It just reminds you that we are so lucky to play a game that we just love to play and so many people play for free,” said Watson. “Heck, I’d still be playing even if there wasn’t a dime to my name.”

Thursday night’s celebration at the Nelson-Atkins Museum was the final event commemorating the 2023 season.

The Chiefs kick off the 2024 season on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they host the Baltimore Ravens. The game is a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship.
