BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (KCTV) - While many Kansas schools are finishing out their first week of school, one district headed back for the first day on Friday.

2,400 kids and dozens of teachers are back in class at Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District.

“What we do in Pre-K is equally as important as what we do in 12th Grade. We are trying to prepare kids for what is next in life. We know that some of our kids are going to go to college, some are going to go to the military, the workforce, technical school, we want our kids to figure out what is it that I want to do for a career and how do I get there,” said Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District Superintendent, Rick Moulin.

It’s also a big year for the district as they welcome Moulin as their new superintendent.

While it is year one as superintendent for Moulin, this isn’t his first time with the district.

Moulin graduated from BSE and has worked in the district for 29 years.

He welcomed 29 new teachers this year and they have many working in the district who are also graduates of BSE.

A special meaning for a lot of them as well as for Moulin.

“It has been an amazing run, there is no place I’d rather be than the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville School District. I’m the first person in my family to graduate college and the reason that I’m here is because I’ve had some great teachers,” said Moulin.

They are looking forward to this school year and seeing how students and teachers grow for 2024-2025.
