Kansas City boy suffers critical injuries when bullet flies into apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A boy is hospitalized with critical injuries after being shot while inside an apartment late Tuesday night.

Police responded to a shooting at a building near E. 42nd Street and Pittman Road around 11:30 p.m.

Investigators found a boy under the age of 15 suffering from a gunshot injury. Detectives believe that the boy was inside the apartment and the gunfire came from outside of the building.

Emergency crews rushed the boy to a hospital. Police said that while boy suffered critical injuries, he is alert and talking to doctors.

Detectives are investigating what happened and continue looking for a suspect.
