TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is offering the public two ways to provide input on the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program.

KDOT is providing an online survey and virtual webinars for input. The information gathered will help direct future programs and recommendations.

The goals of SRTS are getting more kids walking, biking, and rolling to school, improving safety, and increasing health and physical activity. This can reduce traffic, improve air quality, and reduce family costs.

Parents, city employees, school staff, and SRTS practitioners and advocates are encouraged to participate as anyone can take the survey.

The survey can be found here; the participation deadline is Sept. 30.

Four virtual webinars will take place in September for those interested in implementing SRTS activities.
