The window washer’s seat broke, lodging itself into his pully system preventing him from raising or lowering himself as he normally would. A fellow window washer stayed near, talking with him while he called for help. Firefighters arrived and found him hanging 23 stories in the air.

The fire department said his coworker remained with him on the side of the building to help keep him calm.
An employee working for a glass company happened to be walking through the lobby. Firefighters asked him to help. The man agreed and removed a window from the 23rd floor of the building. The access allowed the firefighters to pull the man in from the side of the building.
After roughly 45 minutes the man was safely brought down by rescue crews on the scene at 1 Kansas City Place.
No one was hurt in the incident.
