Missouri voters shocked by quick lines on Election Day
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It was a pleasant surprise for many Election Day voters to see short lines early in the morning and throughout the afternoon.
This comes after record-breaking early voter turnout. In Jackson County, 32,870 people voted early. In Kansas City, there were 3,032 early voters.
KCTV5 went to polling locations across Jackson County to see what the lines were like. They all had a steady flow, with no more than a 20-minute wait.
This shocked many voters as they turned away after seeing the long early voting lines.
“We tried to vote early, but it was just a really long line,” said voter Fani Sooialo. “So, we just waited it out and came today.”
“I saw on Instagram and Facebook that people were waiting in line five hours to vote early,” said voter Dylan Brasco. “So, it’s surprising that it’s super smooth here.”
At the end of the day, line or no line, voters say it’s an honor to cast a ballot.
“It does affect our future and how we’re going to go about everyday life,” Sooialo said.
You can get in line until 7 p.m. Read a sample ballot beforehand. If you don’t have a Missouri license, bring your port or any other government-issued ID.
