Suspect in custody after Lee’s Summit shooting kills man

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A shooting in Lee’s Summit Friday morning left a man dead and a suspect in custody, police said.

The Lee’s Summit Police Department said it received a call to the 2100 block of SW Rutherford Drive at approximately 8 a.m. Friday.

A caller indicated to dispatchers a man had been shot inside of a home and said the suspect was a person known to them. Officers found the man dead when they entered the home.

Police said the suspect surrendered himself to police after initially leaving the home prior to officers’ arrival.

The shooting location is just south of 150 Highway.
