29 children adopted at National Adoption Day celebration

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Excitement was in the air as new families gathered at an EmberHope event Saturday to celebrate National Adoption Day.
The event at Exploration Place saw around twenty families celebrate the addition of 29 children, with new parents finalizing their adoptions at the event.
This day comes after a multi-step process of in-home visits from EmberHope and extensive paperwork.
The adoption director says seeing the children interact with their new families is the most rewarding part.
“It’s a joyous occasion, it’s a time when we come together with a lot of our families and celebrate with them without the stress of work,” said Justin Thaw, adoption director at EmberHope.
Thaw said the majority of children adopted through EmberHope are permanently placed with the long-term foster families or relatives that they already have relationships with.
Adoption helps to provide stability and certainty for kids and their future.
