'Imagine not having a warm meal today': Neighbors helping neighbors share food, fellowship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Hundreds of people who live on the streets were able to get that warm Thanksgiving meal everyone deserves.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Hope Faith Homeless Assistance Campus welcomes people out of the cold.
“Can you imagine waking up today and thinking you’re not going to get a warm meal,” questioned Doug Langner, the Executive Director of Hope Faith.
Langer said they prepared for weeks to make food for hundreds of neighbors.
“We’re truly happy to do this,” Langer said. “Even though we work long hours, and our team works tirelessly – this is a day where we should be doing what we’re doing.”
Many people who came in said they do not have any loved ones and Hope Faith helps fill that void.
“Some people don’t have families out here, so this is nice and good to be all together,” said Brenden. “I am very thankful for them and that they open up their kitchen for us.”
As the winter nights grow colder, Langer said they are in the process of opening up their overnight shelter with 400 beds. They hope to open that up Sunday, Dec 1.
