Chiefs Kingdom food drive kicks off to feed the need in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Chiefs Kingdom is asked to set up and feed the need this holiday season.
On Tuesday morning, Dec. 10, volunteers from Hy-Vee, Harvesters, Chiefs Cheerleaders, and Center Creed Humphrey lined up to put together thousands of Holiday Food Boxes.
Stephen Davis, the CEO of Harvesters, told KCTV5 that this partnership is an honor and will help thousands this holiday season.
“The rate of food insecurity has just gone up exponentially in the last year, I don’t think any of us were surprised by that,” Davis said. “We know that they are seeing more individuals than we ever have before -- 338,000 people are food insecure in our region. That’s one in eight people that aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from.”
Chiefs Kingdom is being asked to donate to the cause through Saturday, Dec. 21. Monetary donations will be accepted at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium before the game against the Houston Texans.
Donations of nonperishable food can be made at Kansas City-area Hy-Vee locations
