OVERLAND PARK, Ks. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs fans in 2014 broke the record for crowd noise at more than 142 decibels and fans watching Sunday Night Football’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers will honor them.

On September 29, 2014, against the New England Patriots led by Tom Brady, the Chiefs Kingdom made sure the team that was once a dynasty in the NFL learned who was next up behind their fans. They screamed and cheered to officially take the spot as the loudest place in sports recording 142.2 decibels.

During the first half of Sunday’s matchup, the videoboard will play a “Decade of Decibels” highlight reel then fans will be asked to yell as loudly as they can again.

As screams echo GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs players who played in the 2014 game will open a special Bud Light glass fridge sitting on the GEHA Field Drum Deck.

21 and older attendees will be given a commemorative koozie with a QR code that will enter them into a raffle to win free beer for a year. 142 winners will be chosen at the game.

Those not attending the game Sunday still have a chance to in the celebratory moment at two area bars and restaurants.

The Other Place in downtown Overland Park and Johnny’s Tavern in Power and Light will have the glass fridges that Bud Light provided.

The Other Place General Manager Tom Johnson said the attitude and excitement inside their doors every gameday makes the atmosphere feel like a “mini Arrowhead.”

It’s hard to match the excitement inside the stadium as the chants start long before kickoff at tailgates across the parking lot. But still, fans will make themselves known all across the metro cheering for their hometown Super Bowl champions.

Adults attending Sunday night’s game will receive a commemorative koozie with a QR code. Fans can scan the code for a chance to win free beer for a year after the Drum Deck celebration.

“We pride ourselves as Kansas Citians for being the loudest stadium, being that extra player for our team,” said The Other Place General Manager Tom Johnson. “We’re going to start this promotion at about six o’clock and it’s open to anybody that s us for the game. We’ll be ing out some Bud Light’s and watching the Chiefs win.”
