Abandoned cars will be towed from Kansas highways ahead of storm

The Kansas Highway Patrol will begin to prepare for the impending weekend winter storm Friday afternoon.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas Highway Patrol will begin to prepare for the impending weekend winter storm Friday afternoon.

Beginning Jan. 3 at 12 p.m., the patrol will begin towing abandoned cars left on the shoulders of interstate and highways.

The patrol said moving cars out of the way will clear the highways and allow plows to remove snow faster.

Owners of towed vehicles can call *47 to speak with someone and get help locating their vehicle.

Owners will be responsible for the expenses.
