3rd fatal shooting in just over 2 months reported near Kansas City grocery store

A third fatal shooting in nearly as many months has been reported after two men were found shot in a Kansas City grocery store parking lot.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Update: The decedents were identified as 36-year-old Samuel Hughes and 33-year-old Jeffery Hughes.

A third fatal shooting in nearly as many months has been reported after two men were found shot in a Kansas City grocery store parking lot.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, emergency crews were called to the area of 87th and Blue Ridge Blvd., near Save A Lot, with reports of a shooting.

When first responders arrived, they said they found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators said they found an interaction in the parking lot led to the shooting. As of 9:15 p.m., detectives continue to canvass the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information should report it to the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. No further information has been released.

This is the third fatal shooting near this intersection in less than three months.
