Court hearing postponed for woman linked to Kansas City reporter’s death

NEW ORLEANS (KCTV) - An Orleans Parish judge rescheduled a hearing for a woman connected to a Kansas City reporter who died in New Orleans.

Police arrested Adan Manzano. Video also showed her leaving the room alone, according to investigators. Manzano’s body was later found inside the room.

Colbert is charged with theft in connection with the Manzano case. Investigators said they are also looking into the possibility that Colbert may have drugged Manzano before his death.

Court records show it’s not the first time someone made claims like these against her.

Colbert was scheduled to be in court Feb. 13, to determine whether she violated the of her probation in another case, and if it should be revoked.

In that case, a man named David Butler visited the French Quarter in New Orleans. He told a TV reporter at WVUE in New Orleans that he met a woman later identified at Colbert. She and another person were standing outside a bar and asked if he wanted to go inside for a drink, according to Butler.

Butler claims Colbert was involved with drugging him and then helping him into an SUV. He said his boss later found him at the site they were renovating.

Butler said he later discovered thousands of dollars in charges on his credit cards as well as money missing from his retirement .

Colbert was eventually charged in the case. A judge convicted her of theft, computer fraud and illegally transmitting monetary funds. The judge suspended her sentence and granted her probation in the crime.

The probation violation hearing originally planned for Feb. 13 is rescheduled for Feb. 26.

If a judge determines Colbert violated the of her probation she could be ordered to serve her full sentence in prison.
