KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Waldo Week came at the perfect time for many businesses that took a hit from the snow.

For the next week, the community and local businesses will be highlighted, many giving out specialties and discounts.

Andy Lewellen, the co-owner of Lew’s Grill and Bar, said with all the recent snow, business has been very slow.

“Sales have been down a little bit,” Lewellen said. “So, it will really help, especially with the weather getting warmer and everyone getting out the next few days. Waldo Week is really great for the community.”

During this week, they are doing $10 off their specialty, Das Boot.

“It’s an 80-ounce glass boot that you can fill with whatever you’d like,” Lewellen said.

In years past, during this week, they’ve seen around a 15% to 20% increase in sales.

“Kind of a good way to rejuvenate to increase sales,” Lewellen said.

Down the street at Hemme Hemme, owner Ashley Bare said they’re experiencing the same struggle.

“It’s been rough, it’s been rough,” Bare said. “It’s hard to make ends meet when that happens, but what can you do?”

She, too, is hopeful for the increased foot traffic Waldo Week can bring to the area.

“It’s by people coming in and ing our small business that we are able to continue what we do,” Bare said.

Waldo Week runs through the whole neighborhood and lasts until Feb 28.
