Suspect in custody after police pursuit ends with crash near Raytown Road
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A suspect is in custody following a police pursuit that ended in a crash near Raytown Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said a preliminary investigation revealed that the Independence Police Department began pursuing a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee that was involved in an aggravated assault incident with a gun.
When the pursuit entered Kansas City, KD officers took over in the area of Truman and Hardesty.
In the area of Raytown Road and the Blue Ridge Cutoff, the Jeep failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a silver Toyota Camry after crossing over the center median. The crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver, front seat enger and rear seat juvenile enger of the Jeep were uninjured. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
KD said the suspect driver was taken into custody and transported to Independence for further investigation.
No officers were injured in the pursuit, according to KD.
