2 adults, 2 children taken to metro hospitals after car goes airborne in Missouri
PECULIAR, Mo. (KCTV) - Two children and two adults, two of whom were seriously injured, were taken to metro area hospitals after their vehicle went airborne along a Missouri highway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, emergency crews were called to the area of northbound I-49 and E. Outer Rd., south of Peculiar, with reports of a single-vehicle crash.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 38-year-old Parkville man had been driving a 2018 Mazda CX-9 north on the interstate when, for an unknown reason, he veered off the left side of the roadway.
State Troopers indicated that the Mazda continued into the emergency crossover where it became airborne, hit a guardrail and flipped over.
Emergency crews said two engers, a 10-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman from Parkville, were both seriously injured in the crash. The child, along with a 6-year-old boy who sustained minor injuries, was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital. The woman was taken to Research Medical Center.
First responders noted that the driver was taken to Truman Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Everyone involved had been wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Investigators said the car was totaled as a result of the crash. No further information has been released.
