Kansas City man charged with murder in fatal Independence shooting
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 25-year-old man remained in custody Tuesday morning, charged in connection with the shooting death of a man a week ago.
Jackson County prosecutor Melesa Johnson announced that she had charged Jadon Stumph of Kansas City, Missouri, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The prosecutor’s office stated that Independence police officers were called to the area of High Street and Cherry Street just before midnight on May 13 on a reported shooting.

Law enforcement reported that a victim was sitting in a vehicle with another witness when a black vehicle with tinted windows pulled into the driveway. Court records showed that Stumph exited the vehicle and walked toward the witness in the vehicle, asking where his ex-girlfriend was.
When the witness said they didn’t know where she was, Stumph opened the car door.
The victim then stepped out of the car and walked around the front of the vehicle toward Stumph, the probable cause document stated.
The two began to argue, and then Stumph shot the victim.
“The defendant has a history of several municipal domestic assault offenses,” Johnson stated in a release.
Stumph was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
