Man charged with felony after shooting several rounds out of pickup’s window

LINN CO., Mo. (KCTV) - A man who tried to shoot a raccoon from his pickup and later fired several more shots from the vehicle has been charged with a felony.

Linn County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Friday, May 30, indicate that Reece M. Allen, 20, of Purdin, has been charged after he itted that he shot several rounds out of the window of a vehicle.

A probable cause statement filed by the Missouri Department of Conservation revealed that just after 6:55 a.m. on Friday, law enforcement officials were called to the area of Hill Rd. with a report that several shots had been fired out of a moving vehicle.

Law enforcement officials said they learned that around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Allen allegedly shot multiple rounds at a raccoon near Hill Rd. while he was inside a white 2005 Dodge crew cab pickup truck. Then, around 9:05 p.m., several more rounds were fired out of the pickup.

When investigators met with Allen, he allegedly itted that he fired multiple shots at a raccoon and then several more while he was with friends out of the window of his truck.

As a result, Allen has been charged with the unlawful use of a weapon, a felony. He has also been accused of attempting to take wildlife from a motor vehicle and attempting to take wildlife from a public roadway, both misdemeanors.

If convicted, Allen could be sentenced to up to 17 years behind bars and be ordered to pay a fine of up to $4,000. As of Monday afternoon, he does not appear to be behind bars and a court appearance has not yet been set. No further information has been released.
