Missouri DoorDash driver accused of stealing customer’s wallet during delivery
CLINTON, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri DoorDash driver who had been using another woman’s has been charged with the theft of one of her customers’ wallets.
Henry County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, June 2, indicate that Sharon A. DeHaven, 40, of Clinton, has been charged with felony stealing after a customer’s wallet was stolen.
A probable cause statement filed by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office revealed that around 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 25, 2024, law enforcement were called to a home in Clinton with reports of a theft.
When first responders arrived, they met with a victim who said she had ordered DoorDash and placed her wallet outside. As she went back inside for just a moment, her food was dropped at the door, but her wallet had disappeared.
Investigators noted that a security camera recorded the DoorDash driver who claimed to be “Virginia” as she stole the wallet. Footage was also obtained from the restaurant where the DoorDash order had originated.
Law enforcement officials indicated that a subpoena of the DoorDash for the driver who picked up the order revealed several discrepancies between the and the actual driver, including the age. The phone number ed to the led them back to DeHaven.
The Sheriff’s Office said it was able to the original holder in December, who reported that she was unaware that DeHaven had been using the . DeHaven was found at the same and address and confirmed she had delivered the DoorDash order, but denied that she had taken the wallet.
As a result, DeHaven was charged with felony theft. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 7 years behind bars and be ordered to pay a fine of up to $10,000.
A court appearance has not yet been set in the case and an arrest warrant has not been issued. No further information has been released.
