KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Kansas City man accused of raping and sodomizing a 9-year-old girl.

Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Friday, May 30, indicate that Mauricio Gerardo-Marquez, 45, of Kansas City, has been charged with the sexual abuse of a child.

A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that on Jan. 6, an investigation was opened after a possible incident of child sexual abuse. It was reported that the boyfriend of a child’s family member had inappropriately touched her for months, and when confronted, he threatened the family. '

During an interview at the Child Protection Center, investigators said the victim told them Gerardo-Marquez had sexually abused her on multiple occasions. They were later able to corroborate her statements.

Multiple family reported that they had become aware of the situation in January and confronted Gerardo-Marquez; however, out of fear for his threats, a report was not made until days later.

As a result, Gerardo-Marquez was charged on May 30 with child molestation, statutory rape and two counts of statutory sodomy. If convicted, he could be sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Court documents indicated that a warrant was issued for Gerardo-Marquez’s arrest on Wednesday, June 4, with the condition that no bond be allowed.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Gerardo-Marquez has not yet been arrested. A hearing has not yet been scheduled in the case. No further information has been released.
