Lee’s Summit officer released from hospital following Sunday shooting
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A Lee’s Summit Police Department officer has been discharged from the hospital less than two days after being shot four times by a suspect in a domestic disturbance Sunday night.
The Lee’s Summit Police Department said Officer Jared Timbrook was shot four times while pursuing a suspect on foot Sunday night.
“We are excited to announce that this afternoon, Officer Timbrook was released from the hospital to continue his healing journey at home,” LSPD said Tuesday night. “On behalf of Officer Timbrook and his family along with the men and women of the LSPD, we are thankful for the amazing care that he received and the outpouring of for him from this amazing community!!”
Timbrook was able to leave the hospital on the same day a man suspected of shooting him was found in Ellis, Kansas, at a hotel. A Blue Alert was cancelled when 27-year-old Thomas Eugene Tolbert was found and arrested in Ellis County, Kansas, about 300 miles west of Lee’s Summit.

Timbrook has been with LSPD for 18 months after working with a different agency for approximately 7 years prior.
Tolbert has been charged with five felonies.
