Troubled Commute: Bridge repairs cause major slowdown on I-35
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A construction project is causing major delays on I-35 Southbound.
The stop-and-go traffic pattern stretched from Summit Street back into Downtown Kansas City as commuters sat through miles of cars at the start of the workday.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is doing bridge deck repair on I-35 Southbound over Summit Street and West 27th. As a result, there will be daily double lane closures from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. through June 16th. The project started on June 3.
According to MoDOT, the repairs are part of a larger project with work being done in Cass, Jackson, and Platte Counties.
Drivers are advised to slow down and pay attention in work zones. It may also be helpful to plan alternative routes or add more time to your commute.
