Kansas City teenager sentenced to 16 years in prison following crime spree

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A judge sentenced a Kansas City teenager suspected of dozens of burglaries to almost as much time as he’s been alive.
Last week a Jackson County judge sentenced 19-year-old Manyiuel E. Caldwell to 16 years in prison.
Court records show Caldwell is believed to have been responsible for nearly three-dozen burglaries. He was specifically sentenced for his role in three of the crimes.
Caldwell pleaded guilty to:
- First-degree robbery
- Armed criminal action
The crimes stem from an armed robbery on July 17. The judge sentenced Caldwell to 13 years in prison for robbery and three years for armed criminal action. He will serve the sentences consecutively according to court records.
Cladwell also pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree robbery for crimes he committed on July 5, 2024, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each count.
In a third case, Caldwell pleaded guilty to the following crimes:
- Second-degree robbery
- Armed criminal action
- Armed robbery
The judge sentenced Caldwell to 10 years for robbery and three years for armed criminal action.
Sentencing notes from the court show that Caldwell will serve his sentence for all robbery counts concurrently. He will also serve all time for armed criminal action concurrently. That means Caldwell was sentenced to serve 16 years in prison. He will need to serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
